A Complicated Fatherhood
Glen Gary leans into his role as a "bad dad" with a refreshing lack of shame, even self-admittedly calling himself a "piece of shit." He navigates the complexities of raising a musically gifted son on a shoestring budget, constantly struggling to balance his love for Buster with the reality of their finances. While Buster dreams of a $10,000 Calliope, Dad tries to keep instrument costs under $100. His parenting style is defined by a chaotic mix of honesty and absurdity. During a negotiation with a "Big Time Agent," Dad essentially encouraged Buster to take a grueling street-performing deal just to ensure all of the boy's future funds were funneled directly to him.
