President of the Farmers Market

Soccer Rules and Yellow Cards

The President of the Farmers Market isn't just a figurehead; they are a mediator who enforces soccer style rules to keep the peace between neighboring stalls. This authority was put to the test during a heated dispute between a vendor selling 'beautiful, beautiful cutting boards' and another peddling artisanal bee products. When the cutting board vendor accused the bee product seller of stealing customers with 'sexy talk,' the President intervened to issue a yellow card, effectively warning both parties to behave.

Digital Democracy

The President’s position is the result of a modern, albeit somewhat exclusive, democratic process. While the cutting board vendor was left in the dark about the election, the President clarified that the position was duly elected via online Zoom meetings. To keep things running, the President handles the necessary emails with help from their daughter, ensuring the market continues to function despite the local drama.
