The Sandwich Shop w/ Andrew Barber

Actor and comedian Andrew Barber (@isandrewenough) comes on the show to talk about growing up in Tsawwassen, BC. Giving his weed smoking spots names, going to see The Backrooms on mushrooms, historical re-enactors being too in character. Mark talks about taking a first class flight once and the tiny VHS cassettes the plane had to play movies. That takes up a lot more time than you’d think. In our town, Andrew builds Black Sabbath Sandwich - a store with a long legacy and a very odd owner. We also revisit Slippery and Stationary, the water park we built last episode and check in with the caveman, Kratom. And he builds a plane museum that has a “mile high club” section.

Stand up comedian Jess Lupini ( @jlupini ) come on the show to talk about dissecting baby pigs in high school science class in Victoria, BC. She also talks about dead seals, positive graffiti, and local celebrity furniture salesman Gordy Dodd. Mark and Ryan also talk about famous “toadies”. Jess goes on a building spree in our town and makes a water park, a rock and gem shop, and a furniture store. Ryan also plays a very funny caveman character right at the end of the episode.

Comedian and doctor (!!!), Mary Saunders comes by the show to tells us why growing up in Fort Langley was being on the set of Gilmore Girls. We absolutely roast Mark for his e-mail signature in college, joke about the movie Air Bud and the TV show SeaQuest, and talk about curfews. Mary builds a cool spot for teens to go drink in town called ISPEP, she also builds Fort Town - a historical fort complete tour guides in period costumes.

Viral TikTok sensation and musical theatre wizard Anton Lipovetsky (@antronsongs) stops by the show to provide our most musical episode ever! He starts off hot with an original song all about THE TOWN!!! He then talks about growing up in Vancouver, playing in bands, music stores, writing musicals, and his fear of improv. We then go into the town and meet a busker and bylaw officer. The band “dirt” forms and then gets busted by the cops. Two musical theatre creators pitch a musical called “Lovers at Lick Lake” and we head to Buck Flicks - a second run movie theatre and hear a song about the “concession pit”.

At long last Graham Clark, the co-host of Stop Podcasting Yourself is on the show and there is a twist! For the first time in Town Show history we have a guest host. Christine Bortolin is in the Ryan chair to co-host with Mark and learn all about Graham growing up in Calgary in the 80s. They talk about Graham’s intense fandom of Alf, Jared Leto’s Italian accent, trick or treating in a gated community, biblical accurate angels and so much more. Graham builds another cursed retail location that can’t stay in business and he makes 7-11 knock-off convenience story “6:30 - 10:30”.
